2017 was an exciting year for all of us. The economy is booming and the production facilities were not allowed to rest for a second in order to meet the still growing demand. We have all done a great deal this year and are bracing ourselves for the coming year and the new challenges it will face us. 

Time to pause and look back on what happened in the past year:

Energy @ Wartenfelser:

At the beginning of 2017, we were able to successfully commission our first photovoltaic system for own power generation.

With the 600 kWp plant, we were finally able to make one of our heartfelt projects in terms of environmental protection and our contribution to the energy transition. This plant can cover almost all of our electricity needs during the hottest hours of the year, making a not inconsiderable contribution to lowering our emissions footprint

For the future, an extension with the inclusion of storage facilities and the construction of solar electricity dispensers to promote e-mobility is planned.

Furthermore, we were able to successfully certify in accordance with DIN ISO 50001 in 2017 and supplement our existing 9001 + 14001 certifications with a logical building block for the future. As a company with energy-intensive equipment and production processes, it is an indispensable tool for ensuring our competitiveness and counteracting rising energy costs.

Inclusion @ Wartenfelser:

For more than 25 years, the company Wartenfelser has worked successfully with several life support workshops in the vicinity. In our old production plant in Erlangen there was even a small workshop with its own workshop group in direct connection to our company building. Moving to our new production facility, we lost this proximity and, above all, many of our valued "colleagues". Due to space and organizational reasons, it was not easy to move the workshop to our new location.

At the turn of the year 2016/17, we then decided to realize the proximity to a workshop group in a different way and started to build an inclusion group, which acts directly and without physical separation with our employees.

The eight new colleagues and their supervisors on site have now settled in more than well and the project is not only considered internally a success. At the end of 2017, we were able to receive the 2017 Erlangen Inclusive Award.

But to be honest, price or not ... most importantly, despite initial skepticism and reluctance on both sides, our life coaching colleagues are no longer thinkable from our daily work routine and are a valuable part of our production family.

In order to facilitate such projects elsewhere and to provide funds for the groundbreaking commitment of Lebenshilfe Erlangen, we have again renounced gifts as an expression of our gratitude this year and have supported the workshops with a donation.
